Church Planting and Renewal

The Thames Gateway Regional Development Plan provided a great opportunity for growing a new church in the South East of England. After prayerful consideration and many months of planning the vision of a ‘community of God’s people, growing a new church, in a new area’ became a reality. Adam and Julia Laughton and their family moved into Gravesend in the summer of 2011. This is just a few hundred metres away from the developing new town of Ebbsfleet. In partnership with Hope Church, Gravesend the mission begins with the 46 houses in the roads surrounding the Laughton’s home. The gospel of Jesus Christ is being made known through friendship evangelism. By God’s grace the aim is to build a church through conversions and then to see a network of house based churches grow as the new development grows.

In 2011 Home Mission was asked to help the church at King’s Road, Chingford. Without a pastor, an Elder or even a deacon and with numbers on a Sunday below double figures the church has witnessed the wonderful grace of their God and Saviour. Through door to door evangelism, evangelistic Bible Studies, survey work and general administrative support, this church has seen increased numbers, conversions, new outreach activities into the local community and even the calling of a new pastor. “Not to us O Lord, not to us but to your name be the glory, because of your love and faithfulness’ (Psalm 115:1).
